Brandon Donovan – Owner
Brandon got his start in the security industry as his first job out of high school. He and 4 of his friends packed their cars and moved to California to do door-to-door sales for a company as a summer job. While he performed well, he did not like the door-to-door approach or sales tactics that he learned while working for that company. The next summer, he switched to the installation side of the business where he saw a quick opportunity to management. He became an installation manager at the age of 20, a territory manager at 21, and a travelling trainer across the United States at 22.
While all of this experience was crucial to his future success, the door-to-door sales business way of doing business did not bring him satisfaction. He saw customers being mistreated, sales people more concerned with commissions than proper equipment coverage, and other things that turned him off to the industry. He left the company he was with, and helped a friend start and build a new company for the next 5 years, with three of those years spent here as he relocated to Colorado to launch the Denver operations for the company.
Brandon started Colorado Security Company with 11 years of well-rounded experience industry behind him. In 11 years he held titles of Sales Consultant, Technician, Installation Manager, Territory Manager, G.M. of Technicians, and Senior Partner. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Sales from Weber State University, in Utah, where he was born and raised. He has owned another business as well for 8 years, giving him the experience needed to prove him as a successful leader and business owner.
Brandon enjoys everything sports related. He describes himself as being like a dog- if a ball is being thrown he’s going to want to chase it. He enjoys playing football, soccer, basketball, and softball the most, but really loves doing it all. When not playing or watching sports, he enjoys riding motorcycles, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, camping, fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking- too many hobbies to list.
Benjamin (Ben) Hanson – Lead Technician
With many years experience as a Production Technician in the solar industry, Ben gained tremendous technical experience and knowledge prior to stumbling into the security business. He is just one of those “tech savvy” kind of guys. Should an installation issue arise, he is the guy that is going to figure out how to get the job done. Ben is a quick thinker, has great communication skills, is very punctual, and the company receives praises for his thoroughness & efficiency on a frequent basis.
On a personal note- When Ben’s not saving the world one security system at a time he enjoys slapping the bass with his band in Longmont, spending time with his girlfriend, new brewery tastings, a new piece from the tattoo parlor, fixing anything he can get his hands on, or just taking it easy at Wash Park with friends.
Tom Barbour – Technician & Sales Consultant
Tom started out with our company performing sales calls, which he still helps out with from time to time, but has been an alarm technician for over 2 years. He works fast without mistakes, does awesome work and enjoys being in the home and getting to know our customers on a personal level. Our customers give us continual feedback about his great work and enjoy getting to know him through his warm and friendly personality.
Tom is a dedicated family man. He is married and has 2 of the most adorable children you will ever see. When he isn’t working and spending time with the family, he spends his time in the mountains, on a lake, or on a river. He is a big time fly fisherman, and looks forward to hunting season more than any time of the year. He was a baseball player growing up, and loves playing competitive softball with his friends one or two nights a week.
